A small and local authority special school for 70 pupils was built in 1975 and caters for a wide range of children with learning difficulties. Pupils aged 11- 19 attend from all over Aberdeen city and some from the Aberdeenshire. The school has links with other educational establishments: Aberdeen College, Bankhead Academy, and Kingswells primary. The school also has links with the community:: A senior swimmers group, a gardening group and the Rotary Club of St Machar.
At all stages the curriculum is enhanced by a variety of activities which encourage pupils to access the wider community. Residential and sporting trips are a regular and popular feature of our programme. We have enjoyed orienteering, cycling, hill-walking, and canoeing when weather permits, with football all year round.
Overall the school seeks to provide appropriate and stimulating learning experiences for a wide range of youngsters within a happy, secure and caring environment.
